Cycle Right & Merrion Square

4th Class had a very busy week last week!

On Monday, we visited St. Annes Park, where we took part in a ‘Cycle Right’ workshop. We were brought on a 6km cycle around the perimeter of the park. This was followed by a picnic at the playground!

On Friday, we got the DART into Merrion Square for the Literature Festival. We attended a talk with Susan Cahill, author of the mythical novel ‘The World Between the Rain’. 4th Class were asked to create their own portal, which would transport us to a fantasy world. This workshop was followed by another picnic in the sun!

Happy Easter!

This week we were very busy with our school concert ‘Cinderella and the Rockerfella’. Therefore, to celebrate all of our hard work, we made Easter baskets and used them to collect treats during our Easter egg hunt! We had to solve riddles to find the next clue, which was great fun. Happy Easter everyone!

World Book Day

World Book Day took place on Thursday 6th March. Throughout the week, we celebrated by discussing our favourite books and authors. Firstly, we created a collage based on ‘Dav Pilkey’, who is the author of the popular novel ‘Dog Man’. We then shared our narrative writing stories with the whole school during assembly. Ms. Cahill organised a World Book Day quiz, which was great fun! Finally, we rounded off World Book Day with some paired reading with a younger class!

Working hard in maths!

4th Class have been doing lots of hands-on activities in maths. We used Aldi shopping catalogues to buy different items and calculate the correct change.

We have also been doing plenty of work on decimals. We used hula hoops and beanbags to create the correct decimal number!
